Children First for Oregon is a data-driven organization whose mission is to make long-term systemic change by advocating for the adoption of policies and programs that strengthen families, and keep children healthy and safe. Children First for Oregon was founded in 1991 to improve the lives of Oregon’s children by galvanizing public support and informing decision-makers about what kids need to thrive. Whether it is speaking up for children’s healthcare, family economic stability, affordable child care or foster children’s rights, Children First has been Oregon’s voice for kids for 25 years.

This is a “back to basics” communications toolkit that addresses foundational concepts of communications planning, messaging, web development, social media, earned media and digital newsletters, specifically tailored for home visiting programs. This is simply a guide to point programs toward some effective practices, to help generate ideas, and to provide resources to further develop those practices and ideas.
